Course Overview
This 8-week course is for people new to computers. It teaches the basics of how computers work, how to use them, and how to stay safe online. Each week covers a simple topic with fun activities and easy quizzes. No experience is needed!
Course Content:
Week 1: What Is a Computer?
Module 1: Learn what a computer is and its main parts.
- What a computer does (e.g., helps with work, games, internet).
- Main parts: Screen, keyboard, mouse, CPU (the “brain”).
- Types of computers: Laptops, desktops, tablets.
- Turning a computer on and off safely.
Activities:

- Practice using a mouse and keyboard.

- Short quiz on computer parts; show you can turn on a computer.
Week 2: Using a Computer’s Operating System
Module 2: Get comfortable with the computer’s “control center.”

- The desktop, icons, and start menu.
- Opening and closing programs (e.g., a web browser).
- Saving and finding files in folders.
Activities:
- Click icons to open programs and explore the desktop.
- Save a file and find it in a folder.

- Show you can open a program and save a file; simple quiz on the operating system.
Week 3: Exploring Software
Module 3: Learn about programs you can use on a computer.
- What software is (apps like games or Notepad).
Common programs:

- Free vs. paid software (e.g., Paint vs. Photoshop).

Week 4: First Steps in Coding

Module 6: Learn how to save and find things on your computer.

- Creating folders to keep files organized.
- Using USB drives or cloud storage (like Google Drive).
Activities:
